ART/CPCS 860 Fall2008
Prof. Dr. Tim Davis and David Donar, e-mail: tadavis@cs.clemson.edu ddonar@clemson.edu
As members of the Clemson University community, we have inherited Thomas Green Clemson’s vision of this institution as a “high seminary of learning.” Fundamental to this vision is a mutual commitment to truthfulness, honor, and responsibility, without which we cannot earn the trust and respect of others. Furthermore, we recognize that academic dishonesty detracts from the value of a Clemson degree. Therefore, we shall not tolerate lying, cheating, or stealing in any form.
!!!!!!!!!!!DISCLAMER!!!!!!!!!!!
Syllabus is subject to change. Software and hardware is subject to lab availability. In certain cases it will be necessary to improvise or utilize alternative means to your ends. In any case you will ultimately gain the knowledge and power to utilize the computer no matter how buggy it can be to gain a better understanding and expression of art. In a perfect world we would transcend our physical world and enjoy and endless supply of chocolate, but this is not a perfect world and thus the only thing that is guaranteed is Murphy’s Law –Scheiße geschieht. (http://userpage.chemie.fu-berlin.de/diverse/murphy/murphy_e.html).
So by the end of this semester expect one or more of the following to happen:
- Hard drive crashing
- USB devise breaking
- Monitor flying out of window
- Software freeze
- File corruption
- Someone crying
- CD/DVD scratching
- Dog/Cat/Hamster eating your homework
- Tsunami
- Other acts of God, Multiple Deity, and/or Nature.
So, please plan accordingly. Part of surviving the digital world is to have backup, a backup of your backup and a hardcopy or tape in a fire/Cat proof box. Failure to do such actions will subject you to the roulette wheel of fate and possibly a poor grade.
